Mecalux has set up pallet racking in the warehouse Magazine Luiza, an electronics company, owns and operates in the Brazilian city of Guarulhos. With this system, the company has attained a capacity to store more than 15,300 pallets.

The Magazine Luiza warehouse includes 15 blocks of double-deep pallet racks that are 94 m long and 11.9 m high, letting more than 15,300 pallets of different sizes be housed. Overall, this set of racks fills a 7,050 m2 area.
This storage system is highly suited for storing the large variety of pallets that Magazine Luiza utilises. Likewise, the direct access to all the SKUs provides exceptional flexibility when managing goods and preparing orders.
Due to this large variety of pallets, the rack levels were adjusted to the type of goods being stored and to its operations. Picking is done directly off the pallet on the lower rack levels, leaving product reserves on upper levels. Operators run reach trucks to handle pallets on top levels.
Frontal rack uprights were reinforced to improve safety levels of the racks that coincide with the emergency exit aisle. This safety measure focuses on cutting down on possible buckling caused by blows from warehouse equipment during load handling operations.
