Mecalux presents the semi-automatic Pallet Shuttle system as a technological solution for the food industry at Cibus Tec 2016

30 Sep 2016

Between the 25th - 28th of October the Cibus Tec fair will be held in Parma (Italy), dedicated to showcasing the latest technological innovations for the food and beverages sector, from ingredients to packaging and logistics.

Cibus Tec, held since 1939, has become an integral exhibit for the most innovative solutions for all sorts of food products such as fruits and vegetables, dairy, meat and fresh goods, pre-cooked foods, juices and soft drinks, etc.

Among the processes being innovated, those related to storage, handling, traceability and logistics in general play a major role. To this effect, Mecalux will present its storage solutions to solve all kinds of logistical needs.

Given the advantages it brings to the supply chains of foods companies, the semi-automatic Pallet Shuttle will be prominently featured at Cibus Tec. Visitors to the Mecalux stand can view a working version of this system in action, which uses an electric shuttle instead of forklifts to handle pallets inside storage channels. Among other technological developments, the system incorporates a Wi-Fi tablet to communicate orders to the shuttle, long-lasting lithium batteries, a positioning camera, LIFO or FIFO configuration, etc.

The high-density Pallet Shuttle system enables compact storage since racks can be up to 40 m deep. At the same time, it increases the productivity of incoming and outgoing goods. Accordingly, it is ideal for consumer goods companies working with many pallets per SKU.

As asserted by the fair promoters, "Technology is an essential travelling companion for food companies wanting to enter new markets." In the 2016 edition, over 1,200 exhibitors will display their innovations to around 30,000 visitors wishing to discover the best technological solutions to optimise the production and distribution of their products.

We look forward to seeing you at the hall 3 stand C 074
